A System Built Backwards
Federal strategies have long focused on treatment and interdiction—waiting until people are already addicted or until drugs are already on the streets. Prevention has been sidelined, underfunded, and misunderstood. The result?
Nearly one-third of U.S. counties lack any substance use treatment facilities. Families are left with nowhere to turn.
Communities are flooded with fentanyl, counterfeit pills, and synthetic drugs engineered to kill.
